This week’s episode of the CaptainsCast revolves around space. With the 40th anniversary of the first man to walk on the moon, it’s a great time to cover it on the podcast. Ben & I talk about our trip to the Kennedy Space Center, Apollo 11 fun facts, space-related video games, and an interesting iPhone app for tracking satellites. Enjoy.

CaptainsCast Supplemental #4 – Happy 4th of July

Just playing around with some video today. I figured I would ask the boys about 4th of July. Hunter’s response is going to get me killed by my wife. I remember growing up and 4th of July meaning heading to Ft. Loramie for the huge parade as a youngster and seeing the guy dressed as Uncle Sam on stilts. What was up with that? That parade seemed to go on for what seemed like 4 hours. In later years we had a summer house on Indian Lake in Ohio. I remember mom making homemade ice cream. That seemed to take 4 hours too. I remember one time we took the boat out at night to watch the fireworks. Of course it is pitch black on the water, so you pick out landmarks on the shore to help you get back home. We always picked the blinking red & blue light on this house near ours. We followed it back, but it seemed to take forever. It ended up we went across the lake in the opposite direction two miles from our destination. Nowadays we don’t have the lake, we have some of the ice cream, and we still have Uncle Sam on stilts. And according to Hunter, we have drinks like volcanoes. We plan on shooting some fireworks off, enjoying time with our friends and family, and most of all, enjoying our independence. Happy 4th of July everyone.
